We hope you didn’t miss this!!!

Every 11 year, the Ikuta Jinja in Sanomiya organize a big Matsuri ceremony. Samurais dancers, tigers, children, monks, participants, dressed in traditional clothes, and of course Mikoshis, were walking the streets of Sanomiya and Kitano all day this Saturday.

This year, the organizers wanted to balance the very traditional aspect of the event with an opening to the international. We thus collaborated with them to help finding foreigners participant.

Therefore, Denis and Guillaume, our famous waiters, had the privilege and the chance, to participate in this amazing event, carrying a Mikoshi all day. It doesn’t look very attractive said like this, but trust us, they had the time of their life. It is not so often that you can join such an old traditional event in Japan when beeing a foreigner. The ambiance between the carrier was amazing, with songs and great exchange. I am sure they made many friends on that day.

On our part at Cafe de Paris, we did a donation to the Ikuta Jinja, to remind, if necessary, that foreigners living for a long time in Japan do care about its culture and traditions. We were very happy to contribute this way to that great event.

Next one will be in 11 years, get ready!
