MARTIN KOEHLER (clarinet)
Martin started playing the clarinet at the age of 9 and added further instruments in the years to come (saxophone, bass guitar, keyboards). He played in countless bands and orchestras and already at the age of 14 he enjoyed performances in front of audiences up to 4000 people. In the 80s he discovered the technical side of music and studied audio engineering in Berlin. As sound mixer and session musician he worked for acclaimed stars like Nena, Sarah Connnor, Falco and Al Di Meola just to name a few. He was hired for CD recordings, film music and TV shows.
Living since 10 years in Asia now, he played among others as soprano sax soloist Smooth Jazz in Thailand before coming to Japan where he focused primarily on classical music.
NATSUMI SHIBATA (violin)
Natsumi first started playing the violin aged just 3 and graduated from the Center of Education in Liberal Arts and Sciences in Osaka University of Education, before continuing her education at the Graduate School of Music at the Kyoto City University of Arts. While still at university, she was selected to perform at the graduation ceremony. Highlights to date include victory at the Kumagai no Sato Music Competition and her encouragement award at the Wakayama competition 18th Nagae-Cup International Music Competition, a 3rd place in the 16th Osaka International Music ensemble division (no 2nd place, highest among Japanese) 3rd place in the Munetsugu Hall string quartet competition., winner of the Haydn Award. To date, she has studied violin with teachers including Tomoe Morie, Minako Inagaki and Yasushi Toyoshima. Now engaged in a range of activities such as live support, alongside solo and ensemble performances.
